Located at Gijón in Span, Centro Jovellanos (Maritime Safety Centre Jovellanos) implements, develops and designs comprehensive rescue and maritime safety training systems that are high quality, specialized, certified, innovative, and sustainable to ensure the most remarkable levels of professional training.
Train, provide, reduce, innovate and guarantee are the five key goals of the Jovellanos Centre, which is the training centre of the Spanish Maritime Search and Rescue Agency, a public entity dependent on the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Affairs.
The Jovellanos Centre provides training experiences in facilities that simulate real emergencies such as fire fighting, marine pollution, emergencies in aircraft, and Chemical Emergencies to name a few. The centre provides approved training programs and is accredited by various accrediting organization such as OPITO.
The center also trains the delegates maritime training programs based on the STCW.
