Located in Barcelona with two training locations, Pronautic Training Centre is a center approved by the General Directorate of the Merchant Marine (DGMM) complying with the standards of the STCW Convention. Apart from STCW compliant courses, the center also provides training in recreational courses and learn to steer all types of boats.

The center if professionally managed and training locations are in Manresa with their office and Firefighting training field and another training location in Moll de Llevant where their STCW and pleasure craft training is provided.

ProNautic offers a wide variety of STCW maritime specialization courses, that will allow you to work as a professional in the industry. Apart from individual courses, they also offer packaged bundle courses for various industries such as Ferries and Cruises. Maritime Specialty Courses are approved by the DGMM (Dirección General de la Marina Mercante) and endorsed by the IMO.

Training Programs

STCW & Maritime Courses

  • STCW Basic Safety Training (70 hours): The STCW Basic Safety Training will consist in survival at sea drills, and fire prevention & firefighting live drills at the Pronautic specialized for seafarer’s fire field.
  • Survival Crafts & Rescue Boats Course (3 days): This Survival Crafts & Rescue Boats Refresher Course will give you the knowledge to steer survival life rafts and slow rescue boats, organize the shipwreck survivors, know-how for salvage and engine repair operations, towing a life raft, and refloat a capsized life raft.
  • Fast Rescue Boats (2 days): The Fast Rescue Boats course will provide knowledge to govern and take charge of a fast rescue boat in adverse weather conditions and will teach you the various types of search and rescue that can be used.
  • Advanced Fire Fighting Course (3 days): The Advanced Fire Fighting Course, will provide you with knowledge in fire brigade management, use and maintenance of firefighting equipment, and safety guidelines; as well as fire prevention, protection and extinction methods.
  • Elementary First Aid Training (3 days): This First Aid training course, will add to your basic knowledge to perform on board, in an autonomous way, should the event of any of the usual medical emergencies on board occur.
  • Marlins Test & TOSE (1 hour): The Marlins course will certify both oral and written skills of the Maritime English level of the student, being that English is the official language on board for all crew. This certification is the best way to guarantee maritime English level of the holder and increase his/her chances of employability at an international level, in an ever-growing industry that requires highly qualified personnel.
  • Bridge Team Management (BTM) (5 days): The Bridge Team Management course will enable the student to improve all bridge personnel management skills, by practicing on a bridge Simulator. It will provide with the right knowledge to implement the correct procedures for Navigational watches, efficient management of the bridge resources, correct use of equipment and know-how on troubleshooting in view of sudden changes.
  • Global Maritime Distress and Safety System General Operator (GMDSS) (15 days): The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System General Operator (GMDSS) course, will enable the student to become qualified personnel in charge of emergency, urgency, distress and routine communications. It provides a wide knowledge of all GMDSS equipment and procedures, on board vessels navigating any maritime area (A1, A2, A3 & A4).
  • Global Maritime Distress and Safety System Restricted Operator (GMDSS) (5 days): The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System General Operator (GMDSS) course, will enable the student to become qualified personnel in charge of emergency, urgency, distress and routine communications. The course provides a wide knowledge of all GMDSS equipment and procedures, on board vessels navigating in area A1 (continuous VHF DSC coverage from the SRC equipped with VHF TR).
  • Ship Security Officer (3 days): The Ship Security Officer Course aims to provide the student with the right knowledge to perform the duties of the person responsible on board before the Master and designated by the company to respond over the ship security, as well as the responsibility to implement and maintain the ship safety & security plan, & in addition to coordinate with the company’s security officer the operations, in joint effort with the Port Security Officials.
  • Port Pilot (Patrón Portuario) (19 days): The Port Pilot course aims to provide the student with the right knowledge to plan a coastal passage, perform an efficient watch, determine the position of the vessel & control the ship’s right functioning, as well as caring for the passengers on board.
  • Deck Rating (AB) (9 days): This course enables the student to become part of the navigational watch, as wheelsman in merchant vessels of tonnage equal or superior to 500 DWT.
  • Passenger Ships Course (Crowd Management) (4 days): The Passenger Ships Course, will provide the student with knowledge on how to handle emergencies, Crowd Management & passenger and Cargo integrity. It will also present the student with the usual drills and exercises to be performed periodically, & the familiarization of the crew.
  • Automatic Radar Plotting Aid (ARPA) (4 days): This ARPA Course aims to provide the student with the right knowledge to choose the proper presentation of the Radar, adjust its control variables, in order to obtain the best system performance, and to set the right operational alarms. This course will also instruct on how to extract the necessary information regarding heading, speed over ground and minimal distance with the echo, and the time when the closest point of approach will happen, so that the user can take immediate and effective action. The course is set to conform to all rules of the COLREG International Regulations, to be able to avoid an excessive approach with another vessel.
  • Electronic Chart Display & Information Systems (ECDIS) (5days): The Electronic Chart Display & Information Systems Course aims to provide the student with the right knowledge to stand watch using electronic charts, so that he will be able to plan a voyage, with a clear understanding of the ECDIS System’s functioning, it’s elements & main uses.
